Celebration event - reflections by artist Kirsty Claxton
It is the end of term annual celebration for the nursery, a time to invite parents to celebrate with children and staff. Inspired by archive photographs of St Philips Nursery and old images of a fantastic street party we had hoped to recreate this, celebrating the changing landscape of St Philips, strong community identity and be visible to the wider world. The desire to claim the streets and explore with the children beyond the nursery remains but it is slow. The nursery exists a necessary safe place for the children, an oasis. We are negotiating the blocks for the children to extend their exploration beyond the Nursery. We start with the land beneath our feet and work out from there. We have begun and are following the river.
