This temporary exhibition, to coincide with the 2019 Towards a Child Friendly City Conference, celebrates two creative celebrating the voice, ideas and creativity of children in the context of place and our city.

My Place
My Place is a creative collaboration exploring ‘place’ with 3-4 years olds in two Bristol City Council Children’s Centres: St Phillips Marsh Nursery School and Illminster Avenue Nursery School.
During 2019, artists Cat Boot and Kirsty Claxton worked with each of the early years settings, discovering the concept of ‘place’ through co-enquiry with the children, inspired by the creative educational approaches the House of Imagination and Reggio Emilia.

Room 13, Hareclive – Bristol Child Friendly City
Room 13 Hareclive is an independent artists’ studio based in the grounds of Hareclive E-ACT Academy (primary) in Hartcliffe, south Bristol, run by children and adults working together. It is a creative hub where transformations – materials, ideas, personal and community – have been taking place since 2003.
Over the past five years, Room 13 Hareclive have been a key partner of the Bristol Child Friendly City Group, established to advocate for children’s voice and agency within both the physical and democratic ‘spaces’ of Bristol.

For this exhibition, Room 13 have created a giant greetings card which they will use to ask the public to share their views on how to make Bristol ‘a city that children and young people can get around, enjoy, help to shape and feel a part of.’
